EMC Ltd Office Refurbishment
Mezzanine and Office Refurbishment Project – Norwich, Norfolk
Mezzanine floors are one of the most cost-effective methods of adding valuable new floor area to any commercial building, utilising spare and often wasted height.
Acorn’s website stimulated this new client to make contact. We met on-site and discussed various ideas and plans before submitting our proposals and quotation for the fitout of their brand-new building in Barford, near Norwich. We were successful in winning their trust and order in the spring.
Acorn acted as their agent in submitting the structural calculations and designs to the local authority and secured building regulation approval during the lead time of the steel fabrication works. Our design made the most of the doubling of their usable floor area, providing new disabled and workshop toilet facilities, a new staff canteen, a reception office and new server room on the ground floor. The new first floor was left to house a spacious air conditioned office space, suitable for up to 16 staff, along with a meeting space and an ancillary stores area.
Acorn also secured the works to divide the landlord’s much larger building with a 60-minute fire separation wall, which was constructed at the same time as the mezzanine floor. This sub-divided the building to allow for future expansion.
Additional high fire performance windows were added to the fire compartment walls to give the office staff great views of the workshop space below. Full-colour, digital image wallpaper along with new reception furniture completed the project.
