Washroom Refurbishment Project – Diss, Norfolk

As one of Acorn’s longest standing customers, the next refurbishment phase for Midwich included this modern, classy and contemporary first floor toilet refurbishment. 

The project started with initial interior design ideas to stretch the boundaries of what was possible within the existing space based on various budgets. After a fully collaborative design phase between Acorn’s design team and the customer’s representatives, a final design was presented.

Following approval the work began in earnest, stripping out all of the existing flooring, sanitary fittings, and existing services to give a clean slate to build from, whilst all the time having to consider the operational needs of this busy dynamic company. Due to this toilet facility being in the middle of the first floor sales office, all of the waste was double bagged and removed from the site out of hours. Any noise disruption or demolition work was scheduled around early mornings, lunch breaks and shift changeovers.

The existing structural and partition walls were made-good and covered in new ceramic tiles throughout. New suspended ceilings were installed along with safety vinyl flooring, before the newly enclosed spaces were fitted out with new duct panelling, cubicles and vanity units, all in a contrasting two tone colour palette installed with special glass effect worktops. All this was completed with new sanitary ware, fixtures and fittings not forgetting the silver ornate mirror installed into the ladies. The shower block was also fully refurbished during the project with new shower trays, mixers and ceramic tiled walls, aesthetically suited in with the new toilet design.

Not only did Acorn change the look of this area but also increased the performance and corrected inherent problems with the existing drainage. The project was completed and delivered as per the design on time and on budget, even allowing for the additions requested by the client throughout the build stage.
