Samsung Washroom Refurbishment
Washroom Refurbishment – Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
This £125k washroom refurbishment project was won by Acorn against a long established competitor.
Working in a very sensitive environment, where noise and disruption were a real issue, the project was completed over four phases with all demolition work taking place out of hours.
At every stage the customer was left with a functioning set of washrooms before the next phase was started.
As a Cambridge based firm, the provision of showers for the high levels of people cycling to work was a real issue and working closely with the client’s representative Acorn came up with alternative proposals to maximise the use being made of the space before deciding on a final design.
The total scope of works saw dilapidated cubicles and sanitary ware replaced with new contemporary designs and colours, feature mosaic walls, full height mirrors, new anti-slip flooring, concealed cistern panelling and PIR operated automatic taps and blended warm water supplies.
The shower rooms were completely refurbished with more powerful sports showers, new enclosures, heated towel rails and a change in the locker design providing storage from the original four to eighteen compartments within the same footprint.
The staff kitchenettes were lifted from dull, white spaces, to new facilities containing ‘limestone effect’ vinyl floor tiles, soft seating, glass coffee tables and high bistro seating.
The dispensing area was completed with instant boiling water dispensers, built in fridges and dishwashers, designer sinks and coffee machines.
All the previously untidy services that fed chilled water dispensers and ancillary equipment were built into the new installation to give a fully fitted feel. Block style worktops and high gloss units were complemented with a warm two tone colour scheme and contrasting seat fabrics.
