Bold and bright washroom refurbishment – Fakenham
Washrooms Don’t Need to be Boring
These two washroom refurbishments took place as part of a larger project to improve staff welfare facilities for this food producer customer of ours.
Project Outline
The customer’s brand features bold, bright colours which had already been incorporated elsewhere in their office and production spaces. So why not introduce them into the washrooms as well?
Existing wall panelling was removed (which had been very well stuck to the rendered walls) as was the dividing block-work wall between the two toilets, with all the spoil transported to the waste facilities provided on site.
The walls received a new plastered finish, new flooring was laid and the rooms were decorated. Toilets and basins were installed along with the washroom cubicles and vanity units.
The final touches included a coat of paint, new brightly coloured laminate entrance doors, mirrors and fitting of all the toilet accessories.
Additionally, the new layout freed up extra space which allowed for the construction of a new cleaner’s cupboard for housing cleaning supplies.
Project Challenges
Acorn Works has considerable expertise and experience in carrying out refurbishment in active production areas. In these situations initial site preparation is always key; even more so in a food production area. All relevant work areas were thoroughly sealed off to ensure that no spoil could contaminate products while our work was being undertaken.
The intense strip out phase was undertaken at the weekend to reduce the disruption to staff. Getting items in and out of the work area was one of the biggest challenges but by instructing set times we were able to successfully manage this.
