Cleanroom Project
Cleanroom Facility – Thetford, Norfolk
Having worked closely with the client and the regulatory agencies pre-contract to design a new pharmaceutical production cleanroom, Acorn delivered this £400K project on time and on budget.
Our remit included all of the room fabric, ISO7 air handling and filtration systems, LED lighting and door interlock and access control systems, as well as the bespoke stainless steel fabrication needed to complete and successfully validate the room for final production.
Acorn carried out all the preparatory ground works and new drainage, which had to take place adjacent to continuing ‘clean’ production. This whole facility was constructed and commissioned without disrupting the client’s existing manufacturing.
The technical challenges of designing an MHRA compliant facility, with all the associated changeover and airlock ancillary areas, were compounded by the physical constraints of the site. Some of which had to be newly excavated from under the existing concrete floor slab, needing structural calculations, new supporting foundations and steelwork to be carried out before the main build could begin.
Acorn won this contract initially in a competitive tender, then assisted the client to further develop the facility to be able to more than treble their production capabilities in this area. We recommended and introduced specialist partner contractors to the client and managed these along with two of the client’s own nominated contractors, acting as principal contractor throughout.
