We’ve been busy working on a commercial fit-out at Papworth Everard, near Cambridge, and wanted to share the progress so far.
From forming the internal rooms and installing ventilation to fitting glazed partitions, ceilings and lighting, the space has changed considerably over recent weeks. With decoration, flooring and branded features now taking shape, the finished interior is becoming much clearer.

Forming the Internal Layout
An important part of the fit-out has been creating the internal rooms and circulation areas. Dry lining formed the walls, defining the layout and establishing the doorways and routes through the building.
As this stage progressed, the individual spaces became more clearly defined. Plastering then prepared the walls for decoration, followed by painting to give the interior a clean, consistent finish.
White walls now contrast with dark skirting, door frames and ceiling finishes, establishing a coordinated appearance throughout the areas pictured.
Installing Ventilation, Ceilings and Lighting
Alongside the internal walls, work has progressed on the building services, including the installation of a heat recovery ventilation system.
Earlier stages saw ventilation ductwork and suspended ceiling framework exposed above the developing rooms. More recent photographs show dark ceiling tiles fitted across several areas, with recessed lighting and ceiling-mounted air conditioning units incorporated into the interior.
One room features a recessed central ceiling section with surrounding downlights, adding another visual detail to the space.
These elements are an important part of the commercial fit-out, bringing the services and interior finishes together as work advances.

Adding Glazed Partitions
Black-framed glazed partitions now line the central corridor, separating the adjoining rooms while keeping views through the interior.
The glazing allows light to pass between spaces and gives the corridor an open feel. Its dark framing also complements the ceilings and other finishes, creating a consistent style across the different rooms.
With the partitions in place, the layout is now much closer to its finished appearance.

Bringing in Flooring and Finishing Details
Floor finishes are also taking shape, with grey carpeting visible within rooms and wood-effect flooring along the corridor. Protective coverings remain in working areas while installation and finishing work continues.
Window blinds have been fitted, and branded features are adding colour and identity to the interior. These include Viridian Solar wall signage and a bold orange ArcBox feature wall, both standing out against the neutral decoration.
Elsewhere, a timber-effect feature panel, recessed display areas and a wall-mounted screen create a focal point within one of the rooms.
Together, these details show how far the project has developed from the earlier construction stages.

The Project So Far
From forming the rooms to fitting ceilings, glazing and decorative features, the work at Papworth Everard is bringing the different parts of the interior together.
There is still work to complete, and we look forward to sharing more as the project progresses.
