Partitioning & Refurbishment of Workshop & Showroom - Norfolk
A full refurbishment and workshop fit Out for Classic Team Lotus at their Hethel, Norfolk headquarters.
Project Outline
The refurbishment of the showroom and workshop interiors saw us working to a very particular brief and layout as designed by the client to achieve this workshop fit Out.
We began by enhancing a new mezzanine floor structure. The Acorn team liaised directly with the approved building inspector to agree a suitable form of fire protection for the two-tier storage platform.
The space was then divided up by walls, walls and even more walls. Workshop and office partition walls were constructed and decorated to meet the client’s requirements, which included future-proofing the space with built-in ‘fixability’ .
A series of laminate and steel doors, in the famous Lotus green, were manufactured and installed throughout the new building, including:
- Bespoke asymmetric leaf steel security double door sets, for both pedestrian and vehicle access.
- An opposed handing set of laminate faced double doors.
We introduced and subsequently worked with the electrical and mechanical contractor to produce an integrated air source heating system and mechanical ventilation system.
Technical and advisory services were provided to help with the ongoing decision making required during the fitout and we continue to provide ongoing technical support post-completion.
Project Challenges
Acorn has always been proud to tackle more unusual enquiries, thanks to our many years of experience.
In this project, the laminate faced double doors were in a particularly unusual configuration which we have never seen or been asked to produce before or since. Manufacturing and installing these was a challenging and satisfying part of the project.
Meanwhile the partition walls were designed and built with full “fixability”, meaning that any existing or future wall hanging requirements could be fitted retrospectively anywhere in the facility, allowing for a fully future-proof partitioning solution.
